Educational Qualification

The required qualification varies according to the post.

1. Nursing Superintendent

Candidates must have either:

  • Certificate as Registered Nurse and Midwife after completing a 3-year General Nursing and Midwifery course from a school/institution recognised by the Indian Nursing Council; OR
  • B.Sc Nursing.
  • The notification also mentions certain concessions recognised by the Indian Nursing Council for specified categories of nursing courses.

2. Dialysis Technician

Candidates require:

  • B.Sc. + Diploma in Haemodialysis, OR
  • B.Sc. + two years of satisfactory in-house training/experience in haemodialysis work in a reputed institution.
    B.Sc. in Dialysis Techniques, Dialysis Technology or Renal Dialysis Technology is also eligible.

3. Health & Malaria Inspector Grade II

Required qualification:

  • B.Sc. with Chemistry as a Main or Optional subject, plus either:
    • One-year Diploma in Health/Sanitary Inspector, or
    • One-year NTC in Health Sanitary Inspector awarded by NCVT, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

4. Audiologist & Speech Therapist

Candidates must possess:

  • Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) from a recognised university, and
  • Registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

5. Pharmacist (Entry Grade)

Candidates require either:

  • Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy (Allopathic) from a recognised university/institute and registration as a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948; OR
  • Doctor of Pharmacy from a recognised university/institute and registration as a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948.

6. Radiographer X-Ray Technician

Candidates must have:

  • 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry, and
  • Two-year Diploma in Radiography/X-Ray Technician/Radiodiagnosis Technology from a recognised institute.
    Several relevant B.Sc. and degree qualifications listed in the notification are also eligible.

7. ECG Technician

Required qualification includes:

  • 10+2 or Graduation in Science, along with a Certificate/Diploma/Degree in ECG Laboratory Technology, Cardiology, Cardiology Technician or Cardiology Techniques from a reputed institution. The certificate must have a minimum duration of one year.

8. Optometrist

Candidates must possess:

  • B.Sc. in Optometry, or
  • Diploma in Ophthalmic Technician of 3–4 years duration.
  • Registration with the concerned Council/Licensing body is also required.

9. Lab Assistant Grade II

Required qualification:

  • 12th/10+2 in Science, plus:
    • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), or
    • Certificate Course in Medical Lab Technology equivalent to DMLT, subject to the conditions specified in the notification.
  • The notification also states that 10+2 Science plus a B.Sc. Medical Lab Technology degree is eligible.

Important: Candidates must already possess the prescribed educational/technical/professional qualification by the closing date of the application. Candidates awaiting their final results are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The age will be calculated as on January 1, 2027. The post-wise age limits range from 18 to 40 years, depending on the post.

Age Relaxation

The notification provides upper-age relaxation for eligible categories, including:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC-NCL: 3 years
  • PwBD: 10 years for UR/EWS, 13 years for OBC-NCL and 15 years for SC/ST
  • Additional provisions apply to Ex-Servicemen, eligible Railway staff and certain other categories.
  • Age relaxations are subject to the conditions and certificates prescribed in the notification.

Application Fee

The examination fee is:

  • ₹500 – for candidates under the general fee category. ₹400 will be refunded after appearing in the CBT, after applicable bank charges.
  • ₹250 – for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minority and EBC candidates. ₹250 will be refunded after appearing in the CBT, after applicable bank charges.
  • Only candidates who actually appear for the CBT are eligible for the applicable refund.
  • The fee must be paid online through internet banking, debit/credit card or UPI.

RRB Paramedical Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The recruitment process consists of:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Document Verification (DV)
  3. Medical Examination (ME)
  4. The notification specifies that the CBT will be conducted for all notified categories, followed by document verification.

CBT Exam Pattern

The Single Stage CBT will contain 100 objective questions and will be conducted for 90 minutes. Eligible PwBD/PWD candidates using the scribe facility will receive 120 minutes.

The question paper will be objective multiple-choice type with four options, with one correct answer.

Negative Marking

There will be a deduction of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer in the CBT.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The notification prescribes the following minimum qualifying percentages:

  • UR/EWS: 40%
  • OBC-NCL/SC: 30%
  • ST: 25%
    The notification also contains a provision for relaxation for PwBD candidates in specified circumstances.

RRB Paramedical Syllabus 2026

The CBT syllabus includes professional knowledge related to the selected post along with common subjects.

Common Subjects

General Arithmetic:
Number Systems, BODMAS, decimals, fractions, LCM and HCF, ratio and proportion, percentages, mensuration, time and work, time and distance, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, square root, age calculations, calendar and clock, pipes and cisterns.

General Intelligence & Reasoning:
Analogies, series, coding-decoding, mathematical operations, relationships, syllogism, Venn diagrams, data interpretation, conclusions, decision making, similarities and differences, analytical reasoning, classification, directions, statements, arguments and assumptions.

General Awareness:
Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history, freedom struggle, Indian polity and Constitution, Indian economy, environmental issues, sports, science and technology.

General Science:
Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences up to the 10th Standard CBSE level.

Professional Ability syllabus differs according to the post. For example, Nursing Superintendent covers subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing Foundations, Pharmacology, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Midwifery and Nursing Management.

How to Apply for RRB Paramedical Recruitment 2026

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official RRB website.

Step-by-step application process

  1. Visit the official RRB website.
  2. Create an RRB account or use the account created for previous RRB CENs, as applicable.
  3. Enter the required personal and educational details.
  4. Select one RRB.
  5. Enter post and Railway Zone preferences for posts for which you are eligible.
  6. Select the examination language.
  7. Complete the live photograph capture.
  8. Upload the required signature and applicable documents.
  9. Pay the examination fee online.
  10. Submit the application.
  11. Save/print the application details and registration number for future reference.

A valid personal mobile number and active email ID are required during account creation. Details entered in the Create an Account form, including the mobile number and email ID, cannot subsequently be modified. The CBT is available in English, Hindi and 13 regional Indian languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and others.

Live Photograph and Signature Requirements

Candidates do not need to upload an old/pre-existing photograph. The application system captures a live photograph during the application process using a webcam or the front camera of a mobile phone. Candidates must upload their signature according to the specifications in the notification. The signature should be in black ink on white paper, in running handwriting, and the scanned image must meet the prescribed size and format requirements.

Important Instructions for Applicants

Candidates should remember the following points:

  • Only one application should be submitted against CEN 05/2026.
  • Candidates can select only one RRB.
  • Multiple applications can lead to rejection and debarment.
  • The chosen RRB cannot be changed later.
  • Candidates must satisfy the educational qualification and age requirements before applying.
  • Medical fitness is mandatory for the opted post.

Application Modification

After submission, candidates can modify eligible application details during the modification window by paying a ₹250 non-refundable modification fee for each occasion. The Create an Account details and Chosen RRB cannot be changed. The modification window is from October 17 to October 26, 2026.

Medical Examination

Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification must also meet the prescribed medical standards for their respective posts. The notification specifies different medical standards such as B-1, C-1 and C-2, depending on the post. Candidates who fail to meet the prescribed medical standard for their opted post will not be provided an alternative appointment under the notification.
