Kerala PSC Assistant Prison Officer Recruitment 2025 – Apply Online (Category No. 420/2025)

Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) has released a new notification Category No: 420/2025 inviting applications for the post of Assistant Prison Officer in the Prisons and Correctional Services Department. Interested and eligible male candidates can apply online through the official PSC website – www.keralapsc.gov.in before 03 December 2025 (Wednesday, midnight).

• Note: Only male candidates are eligible to apply. Differently abled and female candidates are not eligible for this post.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:

• Passed SSLC or equivalent qualification.

Additional Notes:

• Rule 10(a)(ii) of Part II of KS & SSR applies.
• Equivalent or higher qualifications recognized by the Government are acceptable.

Physical Standards

Minimum Requirements:

• Height: 165 cm (160 cm for SC/ST)
• Chest (Normal): 81.3 cm
• Chest Expansion: 5 cm minimum

Eye Sight Standards:

Candidates must have:

• Full field of vision
• No color blindness, squint, or deformity affecting eyes or lids

Physical Defects Not Allowed:

Knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins, bow legs, deformed limbs, defective teeth, speech, or hearing defects.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates must qualify in any five events out of the eight National Physical Efficiency One Star Standard Test items:

Medical Certificate

At the time of the Physical Efficiency Test, candidates must produce a Medical Certificate from a Government Medical Officer (Assistant Surgeon/Junior Consultant or above) certifying physical fitness and eyesight standards.

Candidates should upload the certificate in their PSC profile before certificate verification.

Age Limit

• 18 – 36 years (Candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2007, both dates included)
• Relaxations apply for OBC, SC/ST candidates as per Government rules.

How to Apply

1. Candidates must register through ONE TIME REGISTRATION on www.keralapsc.gov.in.
2. After logging into their profile, click “Apply Now” for the respective post (Category No. 420/2025).
3. Upload a recent photograph (taken within 6 months) with name and date printed clearly at the bottom.
4. No application fee is required.
5. Submit the online application before 03 December 2025 (Wednesday, 12 midnight).

Once submitted, applications cannot be edited or deleted.
Keep a printout or soft copy of the submitted application for future reference.

Selection Process

• The selection process may include OMR / Online / Written Examination, followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Verification.
• Candidates must submit confirmation through their PSC profile to download Admission Tickets before the exam.

Bonus Marks (Weightage)

Additional marks will be awarded as follows:

• NCC Cadets:
  • ‘A’ Certificate – 2%
  • ‘B’ Certificate – 3%
  • ‘C’ Certificate – 5%
• Sports persons – Extra marks as per General Conditions
• Student Police Cadet (SPC) Certificate Holders – As per GO(Ms)No.06/2025/P&ARD dated 01.03.2025

Important Instructions

• In case of caste/community differences between application and SSLC, submit Gazette Notification along with Community Certificate during verification.
• Candidates must read and comply with Part II – General Conditions of the PSC notification.
• Bogus or false claims of qualification or experience will lead to disqualification or legal action.
