Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, has announced a recruitment drive for the position of Office Assistant on a fixed-term contract basis. This recruitment aims to fill a total of eight vacancies at the UCSL facility in Malpe, Karnataka.

Educational Qualification & Experience

Essential Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (except Fine Arts), Science, or Computer Applications with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized university.
Desirable Skills:
- Proficiency in computer applications such as SAP, MS Project, MS Office, etc.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years post-qualification experience in any of the following:
  - Shipyards
  - Engineering Companies
  - Commercial Organizations
  - Government / Semi-Government Establishments

Contract Period & Posting Location

Nature of Employment: Temporary, for a maximum period of five years (subject to project requirements and individual performance).
Work Location: UCSL, Malpe, or project sites as decided by UCSL.

Salary Structure

First Year: ₹25,000/- per month
Second Year: ₹25,510/- per month
Third Year: ₹26,040/- per month
Fourth Year: ₹26,590/- per month
Fifth Year: ₹27,150/- per month

Age Limit & Relaxation

Maximum Age: 30 years as of 17 March 2025 (applicants should be born on or after 18 March 1995).
Relaxation:
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- SC: 5 years
- PwBD & Ex-Servicemen: As per Government of India guidelines (age should not exceed 45 years after applying relaxations).

Selection Process

1. Objective Type Offline Test (80 Marks, 90 Minutes)

General Knowledge – 5 Marks
Reasoning – 5 Marks
Quantitative Aptitude – 10 Marks
General English – 10 Marks
Discipline-related Questions – 50 Marks

2. Descriptive Type Offline Test (20 Marks, 45 Minutes)

Writing Skills (English Language)

Minimum Pass Marks

General Category: 50%
OBC: 45% (only for OBC-reserved vacancies)
SC/PwBD: 40%

Final Selection Criteria

Candidates must pass both tests.
Descriptive test will be evaluated only if the candidate secures minimum marks in the objective test.
Rank lists will be prepared based on total marks secured in both tests.
In case of a tie, preference will be given to:
- Higher marks in discipline-related questions.
- Older candidates (seniority by age).
